Adjacent property owner and long-time Lake Anne resident Catherine Merrill, marine biologist, now deceased, was awarded a Nobel Prize nomination for her discovery of a microbe that was said to exist nowhere else. How one would determine that is unknown. However, if true, we ponder this being the cause or a major factor behind Tarajories' legendary 'healing waters,' also prime for marketing with a suggested meager token royalty to The Owners for the tip. We have a copy of her thesis at large in the archives of the historical documents we purchased from Mr. Riddle along with the property. The 50-year rule at the Nobel offices precluded getting another copy from them in lieu, however, the 50 years will have come and gone by now. There is oil on the property though we'd hate to see it destroyed as such. Bryozoa grows plentifully in the depths of Lily Lagoon, a supposed sign of clean water, and an August non-toxic blue-green algae occasionally appears also waiting to be tapped with sufficient research, ibid suggested royalty. Using the package as a research facility, one certainly wouldn't complain about coming to work each day or living on the grounds. A literal gold mine of biology and anomalies abound just waiting to be tapped. Click our favorite Lake Anne Sunset jpg below for a fall pan finding Catherine's little green laboratory hidden in the north shore's brilliant fall foliage.
